Hello there folks, If you are reading this post then you are probably looking for the same answer which i was looking for several months ago. I am writing this post based on my experience as a WordPress Developer cum SEO Person in my Present company. In During my development days i came across many two way questions on what to use and what not to according to my clients I use to Deal with.
So below is my experience speaking on pre-installed wordpress plugins, should I use them or not.
WordPress Social Share Plugin list is too long, there are 100’s of plugins on wordpress plugin page, some with quite attractive ratings and some with no ratings. When you buy a wordpress theme, there are some premium plugins which comes preinstalled with that theme. They are required for the theme but this does not limit you from installing other plugins.
A premium theme comes with pre installed plugin, how does it effect my site?
A Pre-Installed Plugin offered with the premium theme is mostly the premium or paid version of the plugin. There is no need to purchase additional license key for them. A pre installed plugin generally solves out the problem of finding a compatible and suitable plugin for your wordpress site. A paid theme comes with a demo version, so before buying a theme you can check it’s demo version and if you feel that this is the right one you can purchase it. For ‘how to use that plugin’ steps are mentioned in theme documentation on how to configure and use it.
You can enjoy premium features of the plugin which is limited to that theme and theme version only.
How a pre-installed plugin different form plugin available on WordPress?
Plugins which we see on wordpress plugin page are always free to use. You can either download them from the page and then upload to the site via plugin page or FTP. On the other hand, you can go to plugins tab on left column, click on add new and then on right top side you will see search box. Search for the plugin from that search box. As you click install, plugin will automatically get downloaded and installed on the server. This saves time on downloading and uploading the plugin and I Prefer this method only, if you are a newbie.
If you like a free plugin and wants to enjoy it’s more features then you can purchase it’s premium version with single/multi user license.
What Difference does it make using pre installed and separately purchased Premium Plugin?
Both are premium versions of a plugin but the difference comes when you start using them. With some Pre Installed plugins you cannot remove them directly from plugins tab as mostly these plugins are essential for the theme and are marked mandatory, so removing them may break your theme.
You cannot use pre installed plugins with other theme and simply copying and pasting plugin folder won’t help you either.
For a separately purchased plugin you can get free support from plugin developer in case you find install and configuring hard or something goes wrong with the site because of that plugin, but with pre-installed you will be guided by theme developer’s support person.
So before opting for a paid theme or a paid plugin, make yourself clear first whether you will be focusing on a theme or just the functionality .
